Anxiously Awaiting Weather

Just a quick update since I don't know what the next day or two will bring. Currently, we're awaiting the onset of Tropical Storm Hanna. She is supposed to give us a lot of wind and rain here. Marc is part of the group that took the jets to Ohio, so it is just James, Charlie, and me. I'm sure it all will be okay, but I keep praying we'll keep power. The "good stuff" is supposed to be here around 5 am and last until noon-ish. The weather guys are wrong most of the time, so I'm not holding my breath.

Marc's family is still in the dark in Louisiana. Gustav packed a whollop for them. Luckily, everyone is okay. Only a lost barn at his grandparents' house, but they're well on their way to cleaning it up and salvaging what is okay.

On a James note. He has become quite the walker, and is toddling around everywhere. He's learning to stand up alone after he's been squatting. It is really funny. Today he also started something new. He'll "crawl" by keeping his feet and palms of his hands flat on the floor. It's like a daddy longleg spider. He also has started playing peek-a-boo behind the wall or sofa. Today he even said "Pee pi". On the 22nd, he'll start transitioning to the 1 year old room. He'll do fine in there. I'm sure the other kids in the infant room will appreciate not having someone to steamroll them when they're playing or lying on the floor.

To all those mommy friends of mine. James has the worst case of diaper rash I've ever seen. It came on very suddenly (like after 1 bad diaper on his way to daycare). We've had a time clearing it up, but another friend of mine gave me a home remedy to try. I mixed it up tonight and put it on his bum. I'll let you know how it works, but she swears by it. Here's the recipe (2 ingredients...super easy). Mix some Aquafor OINTMENT with enough Mylanta (I used Target brand original strength/flavor) to make it "fluffy". It really does get fluffy, almost like Cool Whip. Smear it on the affected area and it is supposed to work like magic within an application or two.

Until next time...enjoy your weather. I'll post pictures later.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I LOVE Sarah Palin.
